Police in Nigeria arrest kidnappers who forged alliance from Prison

Police in Rivers, South of Nigeria state, says that it recently arrested a syndicate of kidnappers made up of ex-convicts.

Their bond was forged while serving time in prisons, the police said.

luck ran out on the gang after they attempted to kidnap a woman in her SUV in Woji road, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers.

According to police details, the gang was led by Chinonso Emmanuel, who had had previously been involved in petty crimes before escalating to kidnapping and car theft.

“The gang members had formed their criminal alliance in prison and decided to continue their criminal activities after being released,” Superintendant of Police, SP, Grace Iringe-Koko, spokesperson for the Rivers police command said.

“The police arrested the gang members when they tried to kidnap a woman named Theresa Anyanwu.

“Despite their attempt, the woman fought back, drawing attention from onlookers.

“The gang eventually abandoned the victim and fled, leaving behind some weapons,” the police release explained.

The police commissioner commended the officers for their swift action and urged the public to collaborate with law enforcement to combat crime in the state.
