Police Recants On Recovery Of Doctor’s Body: We’re Not Sure
The police recanted after haven “confirmed” early on Tuesday that the body of Dr. Orji who jumped into the Lagos Lagoon on Sunday had been recovered.
Orji, a medical doctor allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the popular and busy Lagos Third Mainland Bridge on Sunday.
According to reports, Orji was on his way back from Church when he ordered his driver to park the vehicle at the Third Mainland Bridge.
He thereafter plunged into the water.
Following the alleged suicide, the Police Force sent out search parties to recover his body.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni had initially claimed that Dr. Orji’s body was found by the Marine Police, at the Onikan end of the Lagoon.
But the Police have now retracted that statement after late Mr. Orji’s mother said the recovered body is not that of his son.
Until his death, Dr. Orji worked at the Mount Sinai Hospital in Surulere area of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.
No motive has been given for his alleged suicide and the authorities are yet to uncover what may have made the Medical Doctor jump to his death.

He was said to be on his way to Victoria Island for a meeting with the Medical and Dental Association of Nigeria when the incident happened.
LASEMA said there was a distress call of a man who parked his grey coloured Nissan SUV at about 4:50 pm around Adekunle and jumped into the Lagos lagoon.
The agency said the vehicle and the driver had been taken to Adeniji Adele Police Station for further investigation.
Meanwhile, reports have it that Dr. Orji had attempted suicide several times four years ago before he finally succeeded.
