Police Service Commission approves promotion of 38 ACPs to DCPs, 100 CSPs to ACPs

The Police Service Commission (PSC) in Nigeria has announced the promotion of 38 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) to the rank of Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs).
According to a press statement issued by Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Media and Publicity of the PSC, 100 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) were also promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs).
The decision was made during the Commission’s extraordinary Plenary Meeting held on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at its Corporate Headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.
The meeting was presided over by the Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd) mni, and attended by key stakeholders, including Justice Adamu Paul Galmuje (rtd), Honourable Commissioner representing the Judiciary; DIG Taiwo Lakanu (rtd) fdc, Honourable Commissioner representing the Police; and Chief Onyemuchi Nnamani, Secretary to the Commission.
Among the newly promoted Deputy Commissioners of Police are Emmanuel Deenom, Olufemi Takeet, Yusuf Doki Sani, Joseph Habakkuk Anche, Faruku Umaru, and Danladi Daura.
Other notable promotions include Benedict Omotomilola Olomo, Bernard Adedayo Ojewale, and Aminudeen Mohammed.
The list also features officers such as Baba Gana Saje, Maman Bello Tambuwal, and Uchenna Ani, who have been elevated to the rank of DCP.
In the category of Chief Superintendents promoted to Assistant Commissioners, names such as Ibrahim Mohammed Agava, Akinloye Joseph Oyegade, and Rilwanu Mohammed Dutse stand out.
Additionally, officers like Clement Ugochukwu Ezejiofor, Peter Obiyo Ihechere, and Joy Ugo Elemoke were also elevated to the rank of ACP.
DIG Argungu, while addressing the promotions, emphasized the Commission’s commitment to ensuring deserving officers are duly promoted.
He urged the newly promoted officers to reciprocate the Commission’s gesture by rededicating themselves to the service of the nation.
He also called for increased focus on the ongoing fight against insurgency and banditry, stressing the need for heightened attention to these security challenges.
The promotions are expected to bolster the morale of the police force and enhance its effectiveness in addressing the country’s security concerns.
The Commission reiterated its dedication to maintaining a merit-based promotion system to ensure the Nigerian Police Force remains a robust and efficient institution.
