Police Warns Against Using Viral Slogan: “No Gree for Anybody” Raises Concerns

As the popular catchphrase “No Gree for Anybody” gains momentum, the Nigerian Police Force issues a warning against its usage, citing potential security risks.

The New Year brought with it a new slang, “No Gree for Anybody,” capturing the attention of many who see it as a mantra for staying true to personal beliefs. However, the Nigerian Police Force is cautioning citizens against embracing the viral slogan, expressing strong disapproval during a recent press briefing.

According to ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, the police spokesperson, there is intelligence suggesting that the seemingly innocent phrase has the potential to incite a revolution in the country. Adejobi issued the warning while addressing the media at the Force headquarters in Abuja, where he highlighted the concerns surrounding the slogan.

“The new slogan for 2024 for our young ones is ‘No de gree for anybody.’ We have been informed from our intelligence that the slogan is coming from a revolutionary sector that may cause problems across the country. Nor dey gree for anybody is being seen as just a normal talk, but in the security community, we have seen it as a very dangerous slogan that can trigger a crisis,” Adejobi explained.

This cautionary stance from the police underscores the potential impact of seemingly innocuous expressions and their ability to escalate tensions. As the use of the slogan continues to spread, the public response and the authorities’ actions will shape its trajectory in the social and political landscape.
