Presidency demands prosecution of VDM over alleged fake Tinubu audio

The Presidency has called for legal action against social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), over the circulation of an alleged fake audio involving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, made the demand in a post on X on Wednesday, accusing VDM of spreading false content online.

According to Onanuga, the influencer should “face the weight of the law” for sharing what he described as a fabricated audio clip linked to the president.

“This VDM needs to face the weight of the law for being the conveyor and disseminator of a fake audio of President Tinubu,” he wrote, adding that the act amounted to “an egregious abuse of the social media platform.”

His comments came in response to an X user who questioned why some people were convinced that the voice in the viral recording actually belonged to President Tinubu.

The controversial audio, which has been widely shared online, was used by VDM in a video urging Nigerians not to support President Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general elections.
