Former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress, citing recent political developments within the party in Delta State.
Omo-Agege announced his decision in a statement dated May 22, 2026, issued through his media adviser, Sunday Areh.
He said extensive consultations with political allies and supporters convinced him that his future, and the interests of his constituents, would be better served outside the ruling party.
In his resignation letter addressed to the APC chairman of Orogun Ward 2 in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, the former lawmaker said he could no longer remain in a party where he believed he lacked the space to pursue the interests of his people.
“I will not remain a sitting duck in a party where I cannot advance the interests of Delta Central, Delta State and Nigeria,” he stated.
Omo-Agege, who represented Delta Central Senatorial District and served as Deputy President of the 9th Senate, thanked the APC for the opportunities it gave him to serve in various leadership positions during his time in the party.
He also requested the removal of his name from the party’s membership register and all communication platforms.
Despite leaving the APC, the former senator assured supporters that he remains committed to the political and economic development of Delta Central, Delta State and the country at large.
He pledged to stay actively involved in politics and continue representing the interests of his constituents outside the APC.
