The Sagamu interchange has become a dangerous zone for travelers and residents.

The Sagamu Interchange is a well-known junction in Nigeria that serves as a vital connection point between major highways, facilitating transportation and trade across the region.

Located in Ogun State, this interchange is pivotal in linking the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway with the Benin-Ore Expressway, making it a crucial hub for commuters and goods moving towards other key cities.

Its strategic position helps to boost economic activities and ease vehicular movement, thereby playing a significant role in the infrastructure network of the country.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that the reports of attacks, robberies, and killings have caused widespread fear in Ogun State.

Many concerned individuals are calling on the government to address the security issues urgently.

A pastor was brutally attacked and later died after being assaulted at the interchange.

He was returning from a night vigil in Mowe when he fell victim to criminals.

The attack happened in the early hours of March 22, 2025.

He had traveled from Mowe and was heading to Wasinmi, where he lived.

His prayer ground, Ori-Oke Asegun, was also located in Wasinmi.

Around 6 a.m., he alighted from a vehicle at the Sagamu interchange.

He was waiting to board another vehicle to Abeokuta when he was attacked.

The criminals ambushed him before he could proceed further on his journey.

They were armed with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons.

The attack left him with severe and life-threatening injuries.

Eyewitnesses stated that he was left to bleed for hours without help.

It was not until around 7 to 8 a.m. that assistance arrived.

He was later rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.

Despite all efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away.

Medical personnel confirmed that he was the fourth victim that morning alone.

Other victims were also rushed to different hospitals for emergency treatment.

The actual number of victims affected that day remains unknown.

Family members and friends gathered in Wasinmi to mourn his tragic passing.

His burial was a sorrowful and heartbreaking event for the community.

Many expressed concerns over the increasing insecurity in the area.

This was not an isolated incident at the Sagamu interchange.

Another victim, a young woman traveling from Lagos, was also attacked there.

She was trying to cross the bridge to board a vehicle to Sagamu.

Criminals attacked her at the same spot and inflicted serious injuries.

She sustained multiple head injuries but was fortunate to survive.

The repeated cases of attacks have made the interchange a feared location.

Many travelers now consider it a dangerous zone that must be avoided.

“We must inform our loved ones not to stop at the Sagamu interchange,” a concerned resident warned.

The primary motive behind these attacks appears to be theft.

Criminals target victims for their phones, money, and other valuable possessions.

Victims are often left with life-threatening injuries or killed in the process.

Residents and commuters are calling on the Ogun State Government to take action.

They are demanding stronger security measures to protect innocent travelers.

Increased police presence and regular patrols are urgently needed in the area.

Many believe that strict enforcement of law and order will help curb the violence.

Until then, travelers are advised to remain vigilant at all times.

Alternative routes should be used whenever possible to avoid the dangerous spot.

The Sagamu interchange remains a high-risk area for unsuspecting commuters.

Without urgent intervention, more lives may be lost to criminal activities.

Security agencies must act swiftly to prevent further tragedies from occurring.

The community continues to mourn those who have fallen victim to these crimes.

There is a growing call for immediate and effective security solutions.

People deserve to travel without fear of being attacked or killed.

Authorities must address the situation before it worsens beyond control.

May God continue to protect us all from these violent perpetrators.
