Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has strongly rebuked her political opponents following her recent victory over a failed recall attempt.

The recall process, which she claims was orchestrated by Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, was dismissed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to INEC, the petition against Akpoti-Uduaghan did not meet the necessary constitutional requirements to proceed as gathered by Diaspora Digital Media (DDM).

The embattled senator expressed her relief and triumph after the INEC ruling, describing the failed recall as part of a desperate plot by “undemocratic forces” to subvert the will of the people of Kogi Central.

She insisted that the attempt was a clear sign of the lengths to which her opponents were willing to go.

Akpoti-Uduaghan emphasized that they were attempting to undermine the democratic process.

In a powerful statement following the dismissal of the recall petition, Akpoti-Uduaghan said her victory was a result of the unwavering support of her constituents.

She explained that the people had chosen her freely and fairly in the first place.

This support was crucial in her triumph, as the people of Kogi Central had stood firm against manipulation and undemocratic forces.

“This is a victory for democracy and the people,” Akpoti-Uduaghan asserted, underscoring the pivotal role the public played in her success.

“The people have spoken, and their voice is sacred,” she continued.

“No one, whether Yahaya Bello, Godswill Akpabio, or their associates, can tamper with the mandate freely given to me.”

In her remarks, the senator made it clear that those behind the recall plot would face consequences for their actions.

She stated that the failed recall marked the end of an era in which politicians relied on manipulation, corruption, and coercion.

Akpoti-Uduaghan’s statement suggested a new political era was dawning in Nigeria.

It would shift away from the established practices of rigging and violent political tactics.

She also took the opportunity to critique those she believed had used their influence to control political outcomes.

Specifically, Akpoti-Uduaghan targeted the actions of Akpabio and Bello, accusing them of attempting to manipulate the political landscape.

She believed they were doing so for their own gain.

“The era of corruption and manipulation is over,” she declared.

Figures like Akpabio and Bello, who had relied on questionable political practices, would no longer operate with impunity.

“Your days are numbered in politics,” she warned.

“The people have awakened, and they will no longer identify with politicians whose trademarks are violence, rigging, and corruption.”

This public declaration comes after a turbulent period for Akpoti-Uduaghan, marked by rising tensions between her and Senate President Akpabio.

The feud between the two escalated after a controversial dispute over her Senate seat relocation in February 2025.

This confrontation involved accusations of misconduct and sexual harassment.

It further deepened the animosity between Akpoti-Uduaghan and Akpabio.

Despite the challenges she has faced, including a six-month suspension from the Senate over alleged disruptive behavior, Akpoti-Uduaghan remains undeterred.

She has vowed to continue her political career and fight for the oppressed.

She sees herself as a champion of democracy and transparency.

“The voice of the people is the voice of God,” she said.

She aims to continue representing the interests of her constituents and fight against undemocratic forces.

Her victory over the recall petition signals a pivotal moment in Nigerian politics.

Politicians like Akpoti-Uduaghan seek to challenge the status quo and bring about a more transparent political system.

Her campaign appears to be gaining traction among those disillusioned with traditional political methods.

In conclusion, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s triumph over the failed recall attempt solidifies her position in the Senate.

It sends a clear message to her political opponents.

With her unwavering commitment to her cause and constituents, she has emerged as a formidable force in Nigerian politics.

She promises a future where the people’s voice reigns supreme.
