South African police arrested seven suspects in connection with the murder of Kiernan Forbes, popularly known as AKA.

Forbes was assassinated on 10 February 2023, in Durban, South Africa

The deceased was gunned down alongside his friend, celebrity chef, Tebello “Tibz” Motshoane.

They were walking towards their car from a restaurant when they were shot.

The duo were approached by two armed suspects who walked to them from across the street and shot the victims at close range,” police said in a statement.

The Police also confirmed that the hitmen were paid to target AKA, but no motive was revealed.

The Police are still investigating the motive behind the shooting.

During a Tuesday night press briefing, Lt Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, the KwaZulu-Natal provincial police commissioner, said:

“It was clear that AKA was monitored from the airport.

“Tibz was not the intended target in the murder on Florida Road in Durban.

“We are all interested to know what the motive was.

“It is very clear that it was not a case of someone waking up in the morning angry.

“You can see that in the build-up and coordination”.
