The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika has said that Airports in Nigeria will remain shut for two more weeks against the earlier projected April 23 reopening date as a result of the Covid19 pandemic ravaging the world.
Sirika said this in a post on his Twitter handle on Monday.
He tweeted:
COVID-19. As a result of the extension on lockdown by Mr President it is no longer possible for us to open our airspace and airports for normal operations by the 23rd April, 2020. They will remain closed for a further 2 weeks. This subject to review as appropriate, please.

The Aviation Minister repeated same in another statement issued by the Director of Public Affairs, Ministry of Aviation, Mr. James Odaudu, where he was quoted as saying:
“As a result of the extension on lockdown by Mr President, it is no longer possible for us to open our airspace and airports for normal operations by the 23rd April 2020.”
Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had, on Monday, April 13, extended the lockdown in Lagos and Ogun states as well as the Federal Capital territory Abuja by two weeks.
Ahead of the lockdown, the international airports in the country had been shut as part of measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
