Supreme Court Upholds Treasonable Charges Against Nnamdi Kanu

Published

on

The Supreme Court on Friday upheld the treasonable charge against the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

Kanu has been in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS, since he was re-arrested in 2021.

Recall that the Appeal Court on October 13 last year, discharged Nnamdi Kanu following his extraordinary rendition from Kenya.

The Apex Court set aside the judgement of the Appeal Court and held that the IPoB leader should continue with his trial.

Although, the Supreme Court acknowledged that the bail of Mazi Nnamdi kanu ought not to have been revoked.

The Supreme Court also maintained that the invasion of Nnamdi Kanu’s home by the Nigerian Army on the 14th of September 2017 was Illegal. Yet it maintained that Mr Kanu is liable and eligible to stand trial.
