The All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a strong warning to the Kano State government over recent political statements.

Deputy Governor Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam made allegations against Professor Hafsat Abdullahi Ganduje, wife of former Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

In a viral video widely circulated online, Abdulsalam accused Hafsat Ganduje of interfering with pension funds during her husband’s tenure.

According to Diaspora digital media (DDM) reports he alleged that pensioners were only paid after Hafsat had taken a portion of the allocated pension funds.

The accusations have triggered political outrage, deepening the rivalry between the APC and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Ahmad S. Aruwa, the APC’s Publicity Secretary in Kano, strongly condemned the allegations during an interview with Express Radio.

He described the statements as defamatory and unconstitutional, warning that they could have serious political and legal consequences.

Aruwa stated that the comments amounted to character assassination and violated Nigeria’s constitutional principles of justice and fair speech.

The APC has accused the NNPP-led government of using political propaganda to tarnish the reputation of its national chairman.

Aruwa also warned that such inflammatory statements could escalate tensions and destabilize Kano State’s fragile political environment.

He compared the situation to the political crisis in Rivers State, which led to a state of emergency under President Bola Tinubu.

The APC’s reaction highlights the growing conflict between the ruling NNPP and the opposition in Kano State.

Since the NNPP defeated the APC in the 2023 elections, both parties have engaged in frequent political clashes.

Legal disputes, governance challenges, and accusations of misconduct have intensified the rivalry between the two major political parties.

The APC believes the recent allegations are part of a deliberate attempt to weaken its influence in Kano politics.

Political analysts warn that continued tensions could have serious implications for governance, security, and social stability in the state.

Kano remains a politically strategic state, making it a battleground for power struggles between major political parties.

The APC has called on the NNPP leadership to caution its members against making reckless statements that could incite unrest.

Supporters of the NNPP argue that Abdulsalam’s statements reflect genuine concerns about corruption under the previous administration.

However, APC members insist that such claims must be backed by evidence and addressed through appropriate legal channels.

The controversy has fueled political debates across Kano, with citizens divided over the validity of the deputy governor’s claims.

Observers believe the issue could influence future elections, shaping public perception of both political parties.

The Kano State government has yet to issue an official statement in response to the APC’s warning.

Meanwhile, security agencies are monitoring the situation closely to prevent any outbreak of political violence.

Political stakeholders are calling for restraint to prevent further division and instability in Kano State.

As tensions rise, both parties must prioritize dialogue and responsible governance to maintain peace in the state.
