The Nigerian Police have taken over the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Secretariat located on Aba Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that this development comes amid an ongoing struggle for control of the party’s structure in the state, pitting current Governor Siminalayi Fubara against his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

The situation has escalated as both factions in the PDP vie for supremacy, intensifying the political tension within the state.

A tactical unit from the Rivers State Police Command has been deployed to the PDP Secretariat, effectively blocking access to the premises.

A patrol van was stationed at the main entrance, and a section of the road was cordoned off, disrupting traffic flow on the busy Aba Road.

Motorists were forced to navigate the area using only one lane, further adding to the chaos.

The police presence and restriction of access have heightened the sense of unease, as many PDP supporters and local residents are left in limbo over the unfolding situation.

The leadership crisis within the Rivers State chapter of the PDP took a new twist on Wednesday, when the Rivers State High Court dismissed Aaron Chukwuemeka and his executive committee, leading to the appointment of Nname Robinson Ewor as the Acting Chairman.

Ewor’s appointment has added fuel to the fire, as he declared that Chukwuemeka’s leadership is no longer recognized within the PDP.

While Chukwuemeka was removed from his position as state chairman, Ewor stated that he may still serve as the head of the Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI), a faction within the party.

Ewor has made it clear that Governor Siminalayi Fubara remains the recognized leader of the PDP in Rivers State due to his position as the sitting governor.

This proclamation has sparked further debate among party members, as factions loyal to both Fubara and Wike continue to battle for dominance.

Ewor’s remarks underscore the growing divide within the party, with both factions attempting to assert control over the direction of the PDP in the state.

This power struggle within the PDP comes at a critical juncture, with both political figures and party members closely watching the developments.

The intervention of the police, combined with the judicial ruling and the appointment of a new party leader, has only added to the uncertainty.

The future of the PDP in Rivers State is now more uncertain than ever as the rivalry between Fubara and Wike intensifies.
