Texas tragedy: Ms. Odunsis life cut short

A British nursing student studying in the United States was according to reports of Saturday, May 3, 2025, was reportedly found fatally stabbed in her apartment in Houston, Texas.

According to online media reports, this was just days before she was scheduled to graduate, according to police and her family.

Elizabeth Tamilore Odunsi, aged 23, was discovered on April 26 by Houston police officers who had been dispatched to conduct a welfare check at her residence.

Upon entering the apartment, officers found her with multiple stab wounds.

A man, also injured with at least one stab wound, was found in a separate room and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Authorities revealed that Ms. Odunsi was lying on the kitchen floor when they arrived, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers initially knocked on the door of the student housing complex around 3:50 p.m. local time but received no response.

Blood spotted on the rear concrete patio led them to forcibly enter the apartment, where they made the tragic discovery.

Ms. Odunsi had been pursuing her nursing degree at Texas Woman’s University and was just weeks away from graduating.

She maintained a popular TikTok account under the username “Tamidollars,” where she frequently shared updates on her life in the U.S. and experiences as a British student.

She had amassed a following of over 30,000 users.

In her final TikTok post, dated April 21, she expressed excitement about her upcoming graduation, noting that it was only two weeks away.

She also mentioned she had already booked a vacation to celebrate the milestone.

Earlier videos showed her enthusiasm for her studies and life in the U.S., including one post where she shared a glimpse of her graduation cap and gown with the caption, “3 more weeks.”

In another video, she appeared focused on studying, captioning it:

“She doesn’t know it yet, but a year from now all her hard work will pay off, she’ll be working as a nurse in her dream speciality.”

She also expressed personal aspirations, including building a stronger relationship with her faith and leading a quiet, peaceful life.

Ms. Odunsi had previously shared that she preferred living in the United States compared to the United Kingdom.

In a 2023 post, she told her followers, “the vibes are just so much better here,” highlighting her fondness for her life in the U.S.

Her death has sent shockwaves through both the local and international communities.

A GoFundMe campaign launched to cover the costs of repatriating her remains to the UK for burial has raised over £44,000 ($58,000).

Her sister, Georgina Odunsi, organized the fundraiser and shared a heartfelt tribute.

“Tami was a beautiful soul, full of light, ambition, and kindness,” Georgina wrote.

“She moved from the UK to the United States to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse, dedicating herself to a life of care and service.”

She continued: “Tragically, Tami was brutally murdered just days before she was set to graduate from university – an unimaginable loss at a moment that should have marked the beginning of a bright and promising future.”

As of the time of compiling this report, the identity of the injured man found in the apartment and his relationship to Ms. Odunsi had not been publicly disclosed.

Houston police have not confirmed whether any arrests have been made, nor have they offered further details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Texas Woman’s University, where Ms. Odunsi had been studying, has not yet issued an official statement regarding the tragedy.

Neither has it responded to media inquiries, including a request for comment from BBC News.

Police have not ruled out any potential motives, and investigations remain ongoing.

Detectives have urged the public to come forward with any relevant information that might assist in solving the case.

Ms. Odunsi’s death has left a void for those who followed her journey online and those who knew her personally.

Her story, of a young woman who moved across the world to chase her dreams and was on the brink of achieving them, has struck a chord with many, adding to the sorrow surrounding her untimely and violent death.
