It’s a new legislative day in the Senate.

Senate President Bukola Saraki leads the Senate Leadership into Plenary and takes the Official Prayers.

Senator Umaru Kurfi moves the motion for the approval of Votes and Proceedings of Wednesday 13th July, 2016. Senator John Enoh seconds.

Senate President Bukola Saraki reads a letter from the Acting President Prof Yemi Osinbajo on the nomination into Official EFCC leadership. 

The letter was signed by the Vice President. Prof Osinbajo when he was acting president.

Senator Joshua Lidani raises a Point of Order but subsequently ruled out of Order.

Senate now moves to the presentation of bills for first reading.

1. Prevention of Crime Act (Amendment) Bill 2016 HB. 233 by Senate Leader

2. Water Resources Act (Amendment) Bill 2016 HB. 234 by Senate Leader

3. Nat’l Agricultural Land Development Authority Act (Amendment) Bill 2016 HB. 237 by Senate Leader

4. Bee (Import Control Management) Act (Amendment) Bill 2016 HB. 238 by Senate Leader

5. Agricultural and Rural Management Training Act (Amendment) Bill 2016 HB. 241 by Senate Leader

Senate now moves to the presentation of the report of the Joint Ethics PPP Committee, Finance Committee and Appropriations Committee on the complaint by Senator Urhoghide against the Secretary to the Govt of the Federation, Mr. Babachir David Lawal. The Report is laid.

Senate now moves to the consideration of the report of the Land Transport Committee on the Railway Bill 2016 (Repeal and Reenactment) SB. 01

Senate dissolves into her Committee of the Whole to deliberate on the Clause by Clause provisions of the Railway Bill (Repeal and Reenactment)

Senators Adeyeye, Na’Allah, Enoh & Chairman of the Land Transport Committee Sen Gbenga Ashafa make contributions to Clauses of the Railway Bill

Senators Lafiaji, Adamu, Alasoadura, Nafada and Olujimi all continue to contribute to the amendment of the Clauses of the Railway Bill SB.1

Senators Gemade, Yusuf, Abdullahi, Hunkuyi and Marafa as well contribute to the deliberations on the Clauses of the Railway Bill 2016.

The Consideration of the Railway Bill Clauses is to be continued at a subsequent legislative day.

Senate now reverts back to Plenary and Senate President Bukola Saraki reports progress.

Senate Leader now moves that all other matters on the Order Paper be stepped down to the next legislative day. 

The Minority Leader seconds.

Senate Leader moves that plenary be adjourned to Tuesday 19th July, 2016. The Minority Leader seconds.

Senate President Bukola Saraki announces that the Finance Minister and Budget Minister to be present at Plenary next week.
