THE OGONI NELSON MANDELA DAY
EVENT AT KEN SARO-WIWA PEACE AND FREEDOM CENTER, BORI, TO MARK THE OGONI NELSON MANDELA DAY.
In 2013, following the death of Mandela, then MOSOP President/Spokesman, Dr. Goodluck Diigbo had visited the South African Mission to the United Nations, New York, where he declared the First Sunday of December every year as: THE OGONI NELSON MANDELA DAY.
Mandela died on the 5th of December, 2013 at the age of 95 after suffering from a prolonged respiratory infection.
He was the first President of South Africa elected in a fully representative democratic election.
Join us in Bori, the cultural and political capital of Ogoni Nation, and also through the social media.
This will be the second anniversary of THE NELSON MANDELA DAY in Ogoniland under the auspices of the Ogoni Central Indigenous Authority, following the Ogoni declaration of self-government on August 2, 2012.
This year’s event is being sponsored by the Council of Ogoni Churches in conjunction with the Ogoni Civil Society Commission, OCSC.
