Senate now dissolves into the Committee of the whole for clause by clause consideration of the BILLS FOR CONCURRENCE

BILLS 2&7 were referred to Committee of Petroleum Upstream and downstream and Trade, Investment and Industry respectively for further consideration.

Senate now reverts to Plenary and reports progress.

BILLS 1,3,4,5,6,8,9 were read the third time and passed.

Senate now moves into Consideration of BILLS.

1. A Bill for an Act to make Provisions for Mandatory Haemoglobin-Genotype Testing and for other connected matters thereto, 2017 (SB.414) by Senator Ogembe Ahmed

“It is something we can eliminate, we should work towards its elimination”-Sen. Magnus Abe

Senator Ovie Omo Agege and Senator James Manager also gave their contributions.

A Bill for an Act to make Provisions for Mandatory Haemoglobin-Genotype Testing is referred to the Committee on health to report back in 4 weeks

SP Bukola Saraki says the Committee on  health should take note of the previous bill sent to them and also work on the new one.

3. A Bill for an Act to amend the police Act CAP P19 LFN 2004 to provide for enlistment requirement and welfare.

Senator Gbenga Ashafa seconds the Bill.

Senator Olujimi and Senator Dino Melaye speak in support of the BILL.

SP Bukola Saraki refers the BILL to the Committee on Police affairs to report back in 4 weeks.

5. A Bill for an Act to Repeal the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation Act CAP N137 LFN 2004&enact the (NTDA) by Sen. Mathew Urhoghide

Senator Jonah Jang seconds and supports the BILL.

Senator Ohuabunwa commends the BILL and says Nigeria is blessed and endowed with resources, we need to harness our potential.

SP Bukola Saraki refers the BILL to the Committee on Culture and Tourism to report back in 4 weeks.

Senate Leader Ahmed Lawan moves that Plenary be adjourned to the next Legislative day. Minority Leader seconds.
