Tinubu urges support for Niger Delta Development Commission

President Bola Tinubu has called on stakeholders in the Niger Delta region to support the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in its efforts to fast-track development in the region.
This call was made during a meeting with leaders of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Tinubu commended the political leaders in the Niger Delta for their efforts, encouraging them to do more to support agencies driving development in the region.
He specifically praised NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, saying he’s “doing a great job and should be encouraged to do more.”
The President emphasized the importance of community development, stating it’s “very close to my heart.”
He also highlighted the need to preserve legislators’ integrity and character, acknowledging “lots of misadventures around Nigeria on democracy.”
Tinubu advised leaders to be more broadminded, selfless, and focused on salvaging the region politically and economically.
He noted the Niger Delta’s crucial role in Nigeria’s economy, saying “it’s the goose that lays the golden egg. We must care for the goose; otherwise, we lose the golden egg.”
The President discussed ongoing projects, including the coastal road project, which will create new economic benefits for the Niger Delta and the country.
His government is working with international companies to build ports in the Niger Delta States.
King Alfred Diete-Spiff, Co-Chairman of the PANDEF Board of Trustees, thanked the President for his commitment to the South-South region’s well-being and appointments given to Niger Delta indigenes.
He expressed confidence in the President’s ability to succeed.
