Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC) has launched a new initiative under the Tamil Nadu Skills Programme.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) revealed that this programme aims to train persons with disabilities for employment in the textile sector, ensuring financial independence and skill development.

TNSDC is a government organization focused on enhancing the employability of individuals through structured training programmes across multiple industries.

It was established to address the skill gap between job seekers and industry requirements, promoting sustainable employment opportunities in Tamil Nadu.

The organization has introduced various courses in fields such as information technology, healthcare, and manufacturing to boost workforce capabilities.

As part of its inclusive approach, TNSDC has now designed a special training programme for persons with disabilities.

This initiative will provide technical and creative training in hand embroidery and textile packing, fostering self-sufficiency and career growth.

The training will take place in Karur, a well-known hub for textile production in Tamil Nadu.

Eligible candidates must be between 18 and 35 years old, with a minimum educational qualification of Class 5.

Applicants with disabilities such as low vision, locomotive disability, and speech and language impairment are encouraged to apply.

Other eligible categories include persons with dwarfism, thalassemia, hemophilia, sickle cell disease, and leprosy-cured individuals.

Victims of acid attacks are also invited to participate in this skill development initiative.

The course aims to provide accessible learning methods tailored to the specific needs of differently-abled candidates.

After completing the programme, candidates will have job opportunities in various roles within the textile industry.

Available positions include tailoring, quality checking, supervision, textile packing, and unit management.
