Tragedy on the Niger: Peter Obi Reacts to Boat Mishap
It has been reported by News Men that a devastating boat mishap has occurred in Niger State. Resulting in the loss of many lives. The incident, which took place along the Dambo-Ebuchi section of the River Niger. Has sent shockwaves throughout the country.
According to reports, the boat was carrying approximately 200 individuals, mainly market women and local farmers. Who were transporting their produce to the market. The exact number of casualties is yet to be confirmed, but it is feared that the death toll may be high.
Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party. Has expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and the government and people of Niger State. In a recent post on his X handle, Obi said, “My heart goes out to the families affected by this tragedy.
“These are already challenging times, and the loss of loved ones only deepens the pain.
“My sincere prayers are with you all.”
Obi, who was on his way to Yola in Adamawa State to deliver a keynote address at the 16th Founder’s Day Lecture of the American University of Nigeria (AUN), was visibly shaken by the news of the tragedy.
The boat mishap is a stark reminder of the risks and challenges faced by many Nigerians who rely on water transportation to commute and transport goods. It also highlights the need for improved safety measures. And emergency response systems to mitigate the impact of such disasters.
