In a major crackdown, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) troops captured notorious gunrunner Blessed Paul in Garaje Community, Jema’a LGA, Kaduna State.
Transitioning decisively, authorities disrupted criminal networks by apprehending the suspected kidnapper linked to escalating regional security threats.
The arrest was confirmed by intelligence sources on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old suspect had been on the wanted list of security agencies for his alleged involvement in gunrunning and kidnapping operations.
His capture was the result of a meticulously planned sting operation under the framework of Operation Lafiyan Jama’a.
Security operatives successfully devised a strategy to lure the suspect into a trap.
According to reports, Paul had previously fled to Abuja in an attempt to evade arrest. However, he was deceived into believing he was about to sell an AK-47 rifle for N1.5 million. He agreed to meet with supposed buyers at a pre-arranged location in Garaje Community. Upon his arrival, troops posing as buyers apprehended him.
During a targeted scene search, authorities recovered an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and two 7.62mm (Special) rounds.
Investigators swiftly linked these items to the suspect’s criminal operations, reinforcing evidence of illicit activity.
This discovery strengthens the case, underscoring clear ties to organized unlawful conduct.
The suspect is currently in military custody and is reportedly cooperating with security forces by providing valuable intelligence. Authorities believe this information could be instrumental in dismantling his syndicate and curbing further criminal activities in the region.
This development marks another success in ongoing efforts to enhance security and combat organized crime in Kaduna State and its environs.
