President Donald Trump vowed to officially bring an end to the transgender madness

President-elect Donald Trump has announced that he will establish an official policy of the United States Government, stating that “there are only two genders — male and female”.

The president-elect vowed to stop what he described as “transgender lunacy” on his first day in office.

He made the remarks during a speech in a “Turning Point USA” event held in his honour on Sunday.

During and after campaigns for the 2024 presidential election, Trump has made several statements about transgender issues.

He had pledged to take significant actions against transgender rights.

Observers opined that his hatred may have been fostered by the transitioning of the son of his friend, multi-billionaire Elon Musk, to a transgender.

These include:

  • Banning gender-affirming care for minors,
  • Removing transgender individuals from the military, and,
  • Eliminating discussions of gender identity in schools.

Trump has also stated that he intends to make it official policy to recognize only male and female genders.

Trump takes battle to sporting ground

He further vowed to cancel sporting events that pit women against transgenders, including women boxing.

Trump said in quote: ““There’s a spirit that we have now that we didn’t have just a short while ago.

“Sadly, we didn’t have. Who the hell can have spirit watching women get beat up in a boxing ring?

“I don’t think that’s spirit, right? We’re going to end that one quick!” he added.

Trump vowed to keep men out of women’s sports, without specifically mentioning transgender athletes.

These statements have expectedly sparked off considerable debate and controversy.

His supporters argue that these measures are necessary to protect children and maintain fairness in sports, while critics contend that they infringe upon the rights of transgender individuals and exacerbate existing challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community.

Speaking about two gold medalist female boxers, Imane Khelif of Algeria and Li Yu-ting of Taiwan, as transgenders earlier this year, Trump had that they were both born and raised as women.

“They were men. They transitioned to women, and they were in the boxing,” Trump said.

Trump’s remarks about transgender individuals is, however, considered negative and discriminatory by some.

A recent publication quoted him as saying that being transgender is invented by the radical left.

It said that Trump castigated transgender people serving in the military, saying it’s unfair” to other soldiers.

Trump’s plans for transgender Americans

Trump’s 2024 platform on transgender Americans includes:

  1. Outlawing Gender-Affirming Care:
He plans to outlaw gender-affirming care for minors at the federal level.
  2. Investigating Trans Health Care:
The incoming president wants to investigate and potentially halt trans health care, citing concerns about “extreme depression, aggression, and even violence”.
  3. Ceasing Programs that Promote Trans Rights:
He aims to stop all programs that promote the concept of sex and gender transition at any age.
  4. Cutting Funding for Inclusive Schools:
Trump plans to cut federal funding for schools that promote “transgender insanity” and other “inappropriate” content.
  5. Banning Trans Athletes:
He wants to ban transgender athletes from competing on teams that match their gender identity.
  6. Limiting Recognition of Trans Identities:
He has promised to ask Congress to pass a bill recognizing only male and female genders, assigned at birth.

His rhetoric on transgender Americans is criticized for being divisive, discriminatory, and misinformed.

His administration has also taken several actions to roll back protections for transgender individuals.

These include removing guidelines to prevent anti-LGBTQ discrimination in homeless shelters and defending the decision to ban transgender people from serving in the military.

The world waits with bated breath for his swearing-in ceremony, which will take place on January 20, 2025, at 12 pm ET.

The 60th Presidential Inauguration will take place at the United States Capitol.
