Kidnap: King Sunny Ade ris safe and sound, says Manager

Diaspora Digital Media has gathered that reports on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, that had gone viral that renowned jùjú musician, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, King Sunny Ade, was missing, was false.

The story was debunked by his son and Manager, Dayo Adegeye.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Adegeye categorically denied the rumor.

He described it as a malicious attempt by rumour mongers to tarnish the legendary musician’s image.

While addressing the disturbing and unfounded rumor, he said that there is no truth to the kidnapping rumor.

According to thetribuneinlineng.com, Adegeye stated that efforts were being made to take appropriate steps to address the situation.

“We want to assure the public that King Sunny Ade is safe and sound,” Adegeye emphasized.

“There is no truth to the kidnapping rumor, and we are taking appropriate steps to address the situation and identify those responsible for spreading this false information.”

Adegeye also reassured fans and well-wishers that King Sunny Ade was not abducted or kidnapped by anyone.

He further alluded that the Adegeye family and King Sunny Ade’s team are working diligently to put an end to the rumor and protect his reputation.

The musician’s daughter, Damilola Adegeye, had earlier taken to her Instagram page on Monday, declaring her father missing.

She had also accusing his stepbrother, Dayo, of holding the music legend against his will.

However, to calm the growing concerns from the public, especially with King Sunny Ade currently among the top trends on X in Nigeria, Adegeye dismissed the report, describing it as false and malicious.

In a statement issued shortly after Damilola’s allegations, Adegeye said KSA’s daughter’s claim was a deliberate attempt to tarnish the veteran musician’s reputation.

“We want to assure everyone that King Sunny Ade is safe, sound, and in good spirits,” Adegeye said.

The manager further explained that Sunny Ade took a personal decision to maintain a low profile.

According to him, KSA intentionally wanted to rest and have some private reflection.

Adegeye added that KSA’s decision had nothing to do with any threat to his safety.

Adegeye further reassured fans and the public that the music legend remains deeply connected to his music and legacy, even if he has chosen, for now, to stay out of the spotlight.
