Nigerian players emerge favourites at AFCON 2024

With Super Eagles of Nigeria’s win against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon at the ongoing AFCON competition in Cote d’Ivoire, it would now play against the Palancas Nigras of Angola.

The Nigerian team defeated arch rivals Cameroon to proceed beyond the second round into the quarter finals.

Super Eagles were not so lucky last edition in Cameroon where it was defeated in the second round knock-out stage by Tunisia despite being in superlative form at the preliminaries.

The Nigerian team defeated the Cameroonians by 2-0 in a game the Super Eagles maintained laser focus, building their play around a compact defensive formation while attacking from the wings.

The tactics adopted by the Portuguese coach, Jose Pareira, utterly emasculated the Cameroonian attack, leaving the central African country with no shot at goal by the end of the match.
