UPDATE: Nigerian cross dresser repeatedly mutilate currency, must answer for it- EFCC

Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye, cross dresser and socialite was on Wednesday picked up by Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over allegations bordering on Nigerian currency mutilation.
The EFCC had invited the 31-year-old following a video report of spraying and flaunting wads of new Naira notes at the premiere of a movie, Ajakaju, produced by Eniola Ajao, a Nollywood actress and producer, at Film One Circle Mall, Lekki, Lagos on March 24, 2024.
The investigation also revealed that he had also committed the alleged offence at some other event centres and parties at different times.
Following the invitation by the Commission, he arrived at the Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC on the morning of Wednesday, April 4, 2024, for interrogation and volunteered his statements.
Known more as Bobrisky, Okuneye has been subject of intense controversy over skirting around sexual orientation matters.
Nigeria punishes same sex and transgender cohabitation.
But Bobrisky’s cross dressing exploits has created heated debate and sparked anger from members of the public.
Police maintain that no Nigerian law prohibits cross dressing, though.
But EFCC has the cross-dresser for allegedly abusing the Nigerian currency, spraying naira notes, and mutilating currency.
The spokesperson for the EFCC, Mr. Dele Oyewale, confirmed the arrest and stated that Bobrisky will be charged to court for his actions.
“The EFCC is committed to upholding the integrity of the Nigerian currency and will continue its investigation into this matter,” Dele Oyewale said.
He will soon be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations, EFCC added.
