VIDEO: Ukrainian missile sinks Russian building in Belgorod
A missile reportedly fired by Ukrainian forces has hit Russian building in the city of Belgorod.
According to a video obtained by Diaspora Digital Media (DDM), the missile had hit just before noon, May 12, 2024.
The video showed rescuers trying to salvage the situation when some suspended part of the building crashed.
The crash sent the rescuers scampering for safety.
It was readily ascertained if there were casualties, but there was palpable reason to believe that some residents of the building may be trapped in the rubble.
This is because there was a faint response from within when the workers called out towards them.
Watch the short video of the incident below:
It could be recalled that Russia launched its biggest Kamikaze drone attacks against Ukraine on January 1, 2024.
Russia had launched a sudden attack on Ukraine in 2022, resulting in an ongoing war that has lasted two years.
Below is an overview of the ongoing Ukraine – Russia war:
1. Avdiivka
Ukrainian forces recently withdrew from the eastern town of Avdiivka.
The town had been besieged by Russian forces for months.
The withdrawal marked Russia’s biggest victory since the fall of Bakhmut in May last year.
Avdiivka has been a battlefield town since 2014, and almost all of its pre-war population has left.
The town itself is almost completely destroyed.
2. Bakhmut
Bakhmut has seen some of the heaviest fighting in the war.
Ukraine had gained ground in the surrounding areas over the summer.
However, recent assessments suggest that Russian forces have made advances around the city.
3. Flashpoints in the South
Russia has also made slow progress further south near the villages of Robotyne and Verbove in Zaporizhzhia.
When Ukraine retook Robotyne in August, it was hoped that its forces would be able to cut the land corridor to Crimea, complicating Moscow’s supply lines.
Ukraine remains critically dependent on weapons supplies from the US and other Western allies to continue fighting against Russia.
Russia, on its part, has a much larger military force with abundant artillery ammunition.
