Fitness consultant Bunmi George recently opened up about her personal struggles in a heartfelt interview.
She revealed her battles with obesity, health issues, emotional trauma during a conversation on With Chude, Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports.
The interview was hosted by Chude Jideonwo and shared widely on Instagram.
Bunmi shared that at 18 years old, she weighed about 130 kilograms.
At that time, she was diabetic and had high blood pressure, affecting her overall health.
These health challenges took a toll on her self-esteem and mental well-being.
“I looked in the mirror and didn’t look like other girls my age,” she said.
She also developed stretch marks early, which made her feel different and self-conscious.
Bunmi struggled deeply with rejection and the desire to be loved.
She recalled a painful experience with unrequited love that worsened her emotional pain.
A boy she liked told her, “I don’t like you. I can never like you.”
His rejection left her feeling depressed, sad, and deeply hurt.
Despite her pain, Bunmi found a turning point through a spiritual awakening.
She said, “I found more than just a God. I found a Father who loves me.”
This faith gave her hope even when she felt she had let God down.
But her life challenges did not end there; tragedy followed.
In one year, her husband lost his mother, and her brother was shot and killed in Canada.
Only ten days after her brother’s death, Bunmi’s father also passed away.
When asked how she endured such grief, Bunmi said, “God is good regardless of circumstances.”
She added that God’s nature does not change based on what she went through.
Bunmi also battled an undiagnosed health issue during this difficult period.
She bled continuously for 127 days, calling herself “the girl with the issue of blood.”
Her faith and inner strength motivated her to fight back and reclaim her health.
Bunmi committed herself to self-discipline and embarked on a personal transformation journey.
After 14 months, she proudly shared that she had lost 55 kilograms.
“That’s a whole person,” she told Chude, marking a significant milestone.
Her story reflects resilience, spiritual growth, the power of self-love.
