A disturbing case of alleged child abuse has emerged in Imo State, where a woman has been arrested for reportedly assaulting her 13-year-old domestic worker, leaving the teenager with severe injuries.
The arrest was revealed by Chidiebube Okeoma, an Imo-based journalist and activist, who said he accompanied police officers during the operation that led to the rescue of the young victim and the apprehension of the suspect.
According to initial reports, the suspect said to be from Enugu State allegedly attacked the girl with a stick, inflicting serious damage, particularly to her eyes. Videos circulating online show the victim with both eyes swollen shut, sparking outrage and concern across social media platforms.
The victim, who is also reportedly from Enugu State, has been taken to a hospital where she is currently receiving medical care. Authorities have not yet released her identity, but her condition has been described as serious.
Law enforcement officials confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and the suspect remains in custody as they work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
