A leading management and financial consultant and Chairman/CEO, Pan Africa Development Corporation, Mr. Odilim Enwegbara has faulted the recent appointment of Mrs. Amina Zakari as the Chairperson of INEC’s Advisory Committee and Presidential Election Collation Centre Committee.

Mr. Enwegbara disclosed his position in a memo he made available to ElombahNews on Friday

Enwegbara was reacting to Thursday’s appointment of Mrs. Zakari by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as its Collation Centre Head for the 2019 elections.

In the statement, the management and financial consultant opined that “the INEC Chairman [Prof. Mahmood Yakubu] is not strategic enough” in the appointment.

He reasoned that by the appointment, Prof. Yakubu has seemingly made it look as if he plans to “rig the presidential election” coming up in February.

Speaking further, he said the INEC chairman could even rig the election “without having to make it obvious to the whole world”.

He said: “I think that the INEC Chairman is not strategic enough.

“If he was wise enough it is possible to rig the presidential election without having to make it obvious to the whole world.”

On the other hand, he expressed satisfaction that Yakubu announced Amina Zakari’s new position as a clear warning to political observers.

He continues: “I think that it is God that has answered our prayers for him to have announced Amina Zakari’s new position, which makes her to fully supervise the reelection for her uncle.”

He warned INEC that “we will be watching how it is going to play out” as to the implementation of the alleged rigging plot.

“They might have underrated our collective influence both at home and internationally,” he stressed.

He reminded the INEC hierarchy of the consequences “when Abacha ignored the international community and its overbearing power”.

“The international community responded to Abacha. The rest is history,” he stated.

Zakari’s appointment has been widely condemned by several individuals and organisations, foremost of whom is the leading opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP].

Her appointment met with stiff resistance on the premise that she is a blood relation of President Muhammadu Buhari.
