Zazzau monarch slumps at occasion, dies in hospital

A respected district head in the Zazzau Emirate Council of Kaduna State, Alhaji Rilwan Yahaya Pate, collapsed during an event on Thursday and later passed away at Gambo Sawaba General Hospital, Kofar Gayan, Zaria.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that the late Sarkin Yakin  was attending the occasion alongside the Emir of Zazzau, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, when he suddenly slumped.

Efforts to revive him proved unsuccessful, and he was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Confirming the tragic incident, Abdullahi Aliyu Kwarbai, the Media and Publicity Officer of the  Emirate Council, issued a statement expressing deep sorrow over the loss.

The statement read, “With great sadness, the Zazzau Emirate Council announces the passing of Sarkin Yakin, Alhaji Rilwanu Yahaya Pate, a valued member of the Emirate Council.

He also served as the Councillor overseeing health-related matters.”

The remains of the late monarch were laid to rest at Rimin Dodo on Thursday evening in accordance with Islamic rites.

The funeral was attended by several dignitaries, members of the Zazzau Emirate Council, and well-wishers who came to pay their last respects.

The Emir of Zazzau, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, in his condolence message, described the late Sarkin Yakin Zazzau as a hardworking and dedicated leader whose contributions to the emirate would be deeply missed.

He emphasized that death is inevitable and occurs at the appointed time destined by Allah.

Offering prayers for the departed soul, the Emir urged the family of the deceased to take solace in the will of Allah.

He described the late monarch as a religious and committed leader who left behind a legacy of service and dedication to the Zazzau Emirate.

The passing of Sarkin Yakin Zazzau is considered a significant loss to the emirate, especially given his role in health-related affairs.

His efforts in improving health services within the Zazzau Emirate Council were widely acknowledged, and his absence will create a noticeable gap in the council’s leadership.

The entire Zazzau Emirate is mourning the loss, with sympathizers expressing their condolences and sharing fond memories of his service.

Many described him as a man of integrity, humility, and commitment to the progress of the emirate.

As the Zazzau Emirate comes to terms with this loss, prayers continue to be offered for the deceased, asking Allah to grant him eternal rest and give his family the strength to bear the loss.
