Zulum calls for concrete development projects in Northeast

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has urged the North East Development Commission (NEDC) to focus on meaningful projects that bring lasting change to the region. Speaking during a meeting with NEDC leaders in Maiduguri, he stressed the need for visible progress in infrastructure and security.

The governor highlighted critical areas like electricity, road networks, and trade integration under the African Continental Free Trade Zone. He emphasized that the commission must deliver tangible results before its funding window closes. “We must prioritize effectivelyour people deserve measurable improvements,” Zulum stated firmly.

He reminded the NEDC team that northeast citizens would hold them accountable if development stalls. “When your tenure ends, we must see real impact—not just plans,” he added. The governor, however, acknowledged the commission’s ongoing work in education and humanitarian aid across Borno State.

State Minister Uba Maigari Ahmodu echoed Zulum’s call, urging stronger collaboration between the NEDC and state governments. He promised closer oversight to ensure the commission meets its rebuilding goals for the insurgency-affected region.
