ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE — A political realignment has emerged within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State as leaders and members of Tube Ward in Ipokia Local Government Area have distanced themselves from the position of governorship aspirant Mr. Abayomi Hunye, declaring support for the party’s consensus arrangement ahead of the 2027 elections.

The ward executives and party stakeholders reaffirmed their loyalty to the outcome of the party’s governorship primary process and expressed full backing for Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as “Yayi,” who has emerged as a leading figure within the party’s governorship succession structure in the state.

According to the party leaders, the decision to support the consensus arrangement reflects a commitment to unity, stability, and adherence to internal party processes. They emphasized that the All Progressives Congress has established mechanisms for resolving disputes and that any grievances should be addressed through official party structures rather than public disagreement or parallel positions.

The ward stakeholders noted that the emergence of a consensus candidate is aimed at strengthening the party’s chances in the 2027 general elections by reducing internal divisions and ensuring coordinated political strategy across local government areas. They stressed that unity within the party remains critical as political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of the polls.

Supporters in the ward also described attempts to challenge the party’s decision as unacceptable, warning that such actions could undermine cohesion within the APC in Ogun State. They urged all members to work together in support of the party’s broader electoral objectives.

Senator Solomon Adeola, who currently represents Ogun West Senatorial District, has continued to receive endorsements from various party blocs across the state, strengthening his visibility as a major contender in the unfolding governorship race.

Political observers say the development highlights ongoing realignments within the APC as aspirants and support groups position themselves ahead of the 2027 elections. They note that consensus-building efforts are often used by political parties to manage competition and present a united front during major electoral contests.

However, analysts also point out that internal disagreements remain common during pre-election periods, particularly in states with multiple strong aspirants and diverse political interests. They stress that effective conflict resolution within parties is key to maintaining electoral strength.

As preparations for 2027 continue, stakeholders in Ogun APC are expected to intensify consultations, reconcile differing positions, and consolidate support structures in anticipation of the party’s formal candidate selection process.

The reaffirmation of support for the consensus arrangement marks a significant step in the evolving political dynamics within the state chapter of the APC, as attention increasingly shifts toward the next general elections.
