64 Killed In Massive Police Raid Targeting Organized Crime In Rio
DDM News

(DDM) – At least 64 people have been confirmed dead following a large-scale police operation targeting organized crime groups in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, according to local security officials who spoke with CNN Brasil.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the deadly raid, described as one of the most violent in recent years, was carried out in several favelas across the city as authorities moved to dismantle powerful criminal networks responsible for drug trafficking, extortion, and gang-related killings.
Officials confirmed that among the fatalities were four police officers who lost their lives during intense gunfire exchanges with armed suspects. The raid reportedly began in the early hours of the morning and involved hundreds of security personnel, including members of Rio’s elite police units and federal agents.
Local media reports monitored by DDM indicate that the operation was part of an ongoing federal initiative to curb rising crime and reclaim areas under gang control. The favelas targeted have long been strongholds for heavily armed drug syndicates, making law enforcement incursions both dangerous and politically sensitive.
Witnesses told CNN Brasil that continuous gunfire echoed through the communities for hours, forcing residents to flee or seek shelter in their homes. “It was like a war zone,” one resident said, describing helicopters hovering overhead and armored vehicles stationed at key entry points.
Authorities say several high-ranking gang leaders were either killed or arrested, while a large cache of weapons, including assault rifles, grenades, and ammunition, was recovered from the operation.
DDM reports that human rights organizations have raised concerns over the scale of the violence and the growing number of civilian casualties in such raids. Critics argue that Brazil’s militarized approach to combating organized crime often results in indiscriminate killings, while supporters of the crackdown insist it is necessary to restore order in Rio’s most volatile neighborhoods.
Rio’s state security secretary defended the operation, stating that “criminal groups must not be allowed to continue terrorizing communities,” adding that the police acted within the law and in defense of public safety.
As investigations continue, the Brazilian Ministry of Justice has promised a full review of the raid to determine whether any protocols were violated and to assess the impact on civilian populations.
The latest incident underscores the deepening crisis in Rio de Janeiro, where gang violence, corruption, and drug wars have long undermined public trust in law enforcement and government institutions.

Terrorists Kill 4, Kidnap ECWA Reverend, Children
Terrorists have attacked the Gidan Waya community in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing four people and abducting 12 others, including an ECWA Church Reverend, women, and minors.
Community members, who released photographs of the abducted residents, appealed for their immediate and safe release.
Amnesty International confirmed the attack in a statement, noting that the incident occurred on the night of 11 November 2025.
The organisation condemned the killings and abductions, stressing that the incident reflects the continued inability of Nigerian authorities to protect citizens from armed groups.
“Amnesty International strongly condemns gunmen’s attack on Gidan Waya… in which 4 people were killed and 12 people abducted – including children of 13, 14 and 15 years old,” the group said.
The rights organisation further stated that since 2016, rural communities across parts of northern Nigeria have lived under constant threat from armed groups, leading to widespread displacement. Plateau, Zamfara, southern Kaduna, Benue, and Katsina are among the worst-affected areas.
SaharaReporters earlier published photographs of the kidnapped victims, drawing renewed attention to the community’s worsening security crisis.
The latest attack adds to a series of violent incidents across the North, with many rural communities abandoned due to fear of repeated assaults.

PHOTO: Nigerian Brigade Commander executed by ISWAP has been identified as Brigadier General Uba
The Brigade Commander executed by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), has been identified as Brigadier General M. Uba.
Diaspora Digital Media earlier reported that General Uba was executed after the terror group intercepted details of his location.
Though, the tragic development follows a successful joint operation in the Damboa–Biu axis of Borno State, where Nigerian Army troops and Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) members were rescued from an ISWAP ambush with the support of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft.
The Brigade Commander, who had earlier confirmed his safety to superior officers after the operation, was tracked down by ISWAP militants who reportedly intercepted communications revealing his secure location.
Sources claim he was captured, interrogated, and later executed.
The initial operation had been launched to counter ISWAP forces after ground troops, led by the Commander, unknowingly navigated a booby-trapped route and came under heavy ambush.
Facing a surge in enemy numbers, the Commander ordered a tactical withdrawal and called for air support.
NAF aircraft swiftly responded, providing critical relief that allowed the troops and CJTF members to escape.
The joint operation reportedly resulted in the deaths of numerous terrorists, with minimal casualties on the military side.
The killing of the Commander underscores the persistent operational risks faced by military personnel and underscores the urgent need for absolute security in communication protocols within the North-East region
