Ex-governor Bello moves to replace Nigeria’s ruling party chairman

Fresh after a two term tenure as Governor, Kogi, a North central state of Nigeria, Yahaya Bello, is eying the seat of ruling All Progressives Congress, APC chairman.

APC is currently headed by Abdullahi Ganduje, himself a former governor of Kano.

But Bello’s ambition appears to gain momentum two days after he handed over power to a fresh administration.

The former Kogi governor’s ambition to head the party hasn’t been exactly hidden.

Bello is largely considered as bold and brash.

But it has earned results politically, surviving an eight year governorship of a state considered as unwieldy.

As learnt by DDM, Bello has reportedly initiated moves to displace the former Governor of Kano State with deft moves among key stakeholders.

He met with key figures within and outside the North Central, pointing out that the position of the National Chairman of APC was for the North Central zone of the country.

APC a torrid history of leadership instability and pundits say that a change of guard at the expense of Ganduje will not come as a surprise.
