Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State

A forum politicians who contested election into the state assembly of Anambra, South East Nigeria, under the Labour Party, LP, last year, have  expressed concerns over actions of the governor,  Chukwuma Charles Soludo, accusing him of killing one person, wanton destruction and intimidation of perceived opponents.

They accuse the governor’s agents of destroying newsstands, beating up vendors in Awka, and allegedly killing a citizen named Mr. Arinze Obuladike at a drug market in Onitsha.

“The Anambra State of today is not the friendly and peaceful Anambra that the previous Governments left for Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.

His current style of Governance is totally against sections of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 which assures citizens of security and welfare,” the LP men stated.

The group is an amalgam of candidates who contested election into the state’s lawmaking chamber.

The group views these actions as indicative of a shift towards dictatorship, which they believe goes against democratic principles.

The group condemns these acts and warns that if the governor  does not change course, they may seek impeachment proceedings against him.

Soludo is of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, a minority party in the country’s multiparty democracy.

The group argue that the current governance under Soludo is not in line with the constitutional mandate of prioritizing the security and welfare of the people.

The forum urges the government to stop its alleged oppressive and violent actions against the people of Anambra State, or face legal action to compel the House of Assembly to initiate impeachment proceedings.

The group emphasizes that the current situation in Anambra State under Governor Soludo’s leadership is not reflective of the peaceful and friendly environment left by previous administrations, and they believe that the government’s actions are contrary to the principles of democracy and the well-being of the citizens.
