NDA attack: Northerner berates FG over Abuja/ Kaduna axis insecurity

A northern citizen, Ahmed Musa Hussaini has berated the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government over the incessant insecurity bedeviling the Abuja/ Kaduna axis following the recent attack on the Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA).

In a comment he made available to ElombahNews on Wednesday, Musa Hussaini noted that Abuja and Kaduna axis ought to be the most secure in Nigeria.

He argued that Kaduna is home to Nigeria’s military institutions and other defense establishments while Abuja is the political dome of the nation.

He condemned the government over its inability to protect the two centers of Nigeria’s political and military power.

Rather, the problem, he said, lies with politicians who “are not ready to pay the price… cut on their own excesses and flamboyance… come out of their own shells and false illusion of security and… sacrifice their own comfort, and if possible lives, to lead from the front.

Hussaini wrote:

“Kaduna ought to be the most fortified state in Nigeria due to the presence of military institutions and other defense establishments.

The Abuja – Kaduna axis ought to be the most secure in Nigeria due to its proximity to these two centers of Nigeria’s political and military power.

But bandits operate freely, killing people, taking others hostage and raiding local communities.

So when those in power ‘allow’ criminals to operate with impunity in Kaduna and other parts of the country, how foolish that they think the NDA (Nigeria Defence Academy) and other institutions would be spared? How foolish!

You can say the government is trying, but tell that to the faces of those hostages who suffered at the hands of those criminals, or their families who toiled to raise unrealizable amounts in ransom, or communities currently displaced, with neither food, shelter, assurances nor hope!

I beg of you, tell that to their faces!

The fact is, our society (and the government that evolves from such society) doesn’t put much premium on the lives of the ordinary citizen.

When bandits kidnapped an American evangelist in Niger Republic and took him across the border to Nigeria, America sent them a resounding message that they have now learnt to leave American citizens alone.

If those in government want to end this, they know how to.

The only problem is, they are not ready to pay the price, to cut on their own excesses and flamboyance, to come out of their own shells and false illusion of security and stability, to sacrifice their own comfort and if possible lives, to lead from the front as promised and to immerse themselves in the terrible realities of the suffering communities they ignored.”
