The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has declared that their Leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is currently under sever torture and humiliation in the hands of Nigeria Government at the Abuja headquarters of the Department of Security Services, DSS, where he is under custody.
IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful disclosed this in a press release issued on Wednesday.
Comrade Powerful condemned the torture and the flagrant abuse of Kanu’s human rights by DSS, alleging that since his abduction from Kenya on June 19, 2021, till date they have been touring him.
”They have denied him access to his religious materials.
“They have never allowed him to change his clothes while on the other hand, the same hypocritical Government is sewing new clothes for bandits and mass murderers who have purportedly repented.
”Our leader has been subjected to unimaginable torture since his rendition to Nigeria.
“The world will be shocked at further revelations of what he has passed through ever since then.
“The world should take note that Nigeria Government and Kenya government violated the international law, and must be made to pay for their atrocities against an individual who is fighting for the freedom his people,” he noted.
According to him, self-determination is a universal law guaranteed by the United Nations and domesticated by the Nigeria law.
“Our people both home and in the diaspora must organise themselves and understand that they are hated across Nigeria and the only solution for our wellbeing is freedom and independence of Biafra,” he said.
Emma Powerful regretted how the Nigerian and Kenyan Government blindfolded Nnamdi Kanu for more than 5 hours from Kenya to Nigeria and also upon his arrival from Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport, Abuja, to Nigerian Intelligence Agency (NIA) for 2 days without food before bringing him to court.
He also remained blindfolded while in Nigeria court, he cried, while throughout his flight duration he was handcuffed with 2 legs chained to the point that blood wasn’t flowing through his body.
He even had assault rifles pointed at his head, the IPOB scribe alleged.
”In all these humiliation and torture, Nnamdi Kanu remains focused and steadfast for the restoration of Biafra freedom and independence,” he gloated.
The Scribe, therefore, invited the world to look into their case and grant them freedom because “Biafrans have suffered much in the hands of these terrorists nation called Nigeria”.
He urged the global world, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and all diplomatic missions in Nigeria to prevail on the Nigerian Government to release Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally so he will not die in detention.
