Controversial content creator Ademola Abiodun, popularly known as DJ Chicken, has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre after being arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court in Ogba, Lagos, over an alleged death threat against Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.

DJ Chicken appeared before Magistrate M.F. Onamusi on Friday on a three-count charge bordering on alleged threat to kill, conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, and offences under the Cybercrime Act.

The charges stem from a video he shared on social media last week in which prosecutors said he threatened Seyi Tinubu while commenting on the 2027 presidential election.

According to the prosecution, the statements in the video amounted to a death threat, contrary to the Criminal Law of Lagos State and the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.

Following public backlash, DJ Chicken released another video, saying the remarks were only meant as a joke to attract attention.

He insisted he had no intention of harming Seyi Tinubu and described the comments as part of his content creation.

Despite the apology, the Lagos State Government proceeded with criminal charges.

The first charge accuses him of threatening to kill Seyi Tinubu through a social media post, while the second alleges he transmitted a grossly offensive and menacing message via a computer network.

The third charge claims his actions were capable of causing a breach of peace and were intended to intimidate or embarrass Seyi Tinubu.

DJ Chicken pleaded not guilty to all three charges.

The court granted him bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.

Magistrate Onamusi ruled that one surety must be a government employee, while the other must be a recognised community leader who owns landed property in Lagos State.

Both are also required to provide three years’ tax clearance, LASRRA identification, National Identification Number (NIN), and recent utility bills. One of the sureties must also be a blood relative of the defendant.

Unable to meet the bail conditions immediately, DJ Chicken was ordered to be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.

The case was adjourned until August 3, 2026, for further hearing.
