The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has been accused of rigging the recently-held Ogbaru Federal Constituency election in Anambra State in favour of the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Afam Victor Ogene.

INEC had declared the Labour Party candidate winner of the election at the end of the supplementary election, defeating the incumbent and a third-term member of the house, Hon. Chukwuma Onyema of the Peoples Democratic Party.

According to a source, however, the Anambra State INEC REC, Queen Elizabeth Agwu, “fully deployed its rigging machines once against the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

News Band was informed that three times in-between the collation of results, the collation officer, Umubele Awka born Prof. Kingsley Ikechukwu Ubaoji of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, packed up his bags to leave, saying he was summoned to Awka, the Anambra State capital, by Madam Agwu.

He was, however, restricted pending the determination of the winner in the election.

Visibly acting under pressure, he suddenly declared the Labour Party candidate winner, packed his bags and left abruptly.

Meanwhile, from the attached results obtained from polling units 15/2 and 25/4 in the constituency election, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party claimed he was in clear lead in the results collated and declared so far by INEC electoral officers, though, most forms EC8A are yet to be uploaded into INEC IREV results viewing portal.

The candidate alleged plots by the INEC Returning Officer for the Constituency election, to manipulate the results in favour of the Labour Party candidate.

Reports say that the PDP leadership in the state has made several attempts to obtain a Certified True Copy (CTC) of the results, but that INEC has refused to release the documents to the applicants.

The party wondered why the commission is preventing the PDP access to the CTC copy of the result sheets if it does not have some skeletons in its cupboard.
