The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has debunked reports that Justice Boloukuoromo M. Ugo has resigned from the Presidential Election Petitions Court (PEPC).
New had gone viral that Justice Ugo, a member of the five-man panel of the Court of Appeal handline the petitions filed by Mr. PeterGregory Obi and his Labour Party (LP), Atiku Abubakar and his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as well as the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), challenging the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election, has resigned, citing undue interference from the camp of President Tinubu.
Responding to enquiries, the appellate court said it is fake news and should be ignored.
The five-man panel of judges led by Justice Haruna Tsammani was inaugurated to preside over petitions challenging Tinubu’s victory, who was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In the meantime, all the petitioners have closed their cases after presenting witnesses and tendering evidence to support their respective submissions and have also submitted their final written addresses.
News Band had reported earlier that an investigative journalist and a former presidential aide in the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr. Jackson Ude, has withdrawn his story over the resignation of Justice Boloukuoromo M. Ugo of the Presidential Elections Petition Court (PEPC).
In a story published on his website as well as his Twitter handle, @jacksonpbn, Mr. Ude had reported that Ugo reported over pressure from the Tinubbu-led federal government.
More details will follow as new developments unfold.
