A devastating fire broke out at the Mainland Oil and Gas filling station in the Kubwa area of Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city, on Thursday evening.

The blaze, which started around 5:30 pm, was reportedly caused by a tanker catching fire while discharging fuel at the station.

Emergency services, including the FCT Fire Service and police, were swiftly deployed to the scene to contain the situation.

The FCT Police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, confirmed that the Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, promptly mobilized police teams and firefighters to the scene.

Fortunately, no fatalities were recorded, and the fire was eventually extinguished.

However, the tanker was completely burned. The cause of the fire outbreak is still under investigation.

The incident sparked concern among residents and motorists in the area, but the swift response of the emergency services prevented the situation from escalating further.

The police and fire service personnel worked together to rescue victims, extinguish the fire, and protect other assets of the filling station from being engulfed.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire and prevent similar incidents in the future.
