Aisha Buhari To Champion Campaign Against Maternal, Child Mortality

Mrs Aisha Buhari has said she will champion the campaign that will fight against infant, maternal and child mortality in the country.

The wife of the president Buhari said this when inaugurating the free medical outreach organised by her non profit making organisation

Her organisation is known as “Future Assured’ initiative”.

Her organisation in  collaboration with Marie Stopes International, an NGO, and the Benue State Government, is pursuing the campaign against maternal and child mortality in the country.

The wife of the president was represented by the National Coordinator of her ‘Future Assured’ initiative in North Central, Hajiya Hansatu Zannah, 

Mrs Aisha Buhari said the exercise will provide opportunity to screen citizens for medical conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, cervical cancers.

Continuing she said that that beneficiaries will be screened for breast cancer and malaria. There will also be de-worming for 1000 school children.

In his own contribution the governor of Benue State Gov. Samuel Ortom of said the state government had trained 150 students of Benue state School of Health as qualified doctors, and had also

He also expressed gratitude to Aisha Buhari, the wife of the president who supported the program. The governor also pledged to support the free medical programme the presidents’ wife had initiated in the state.

Mrs Buhari thanked the Benue state government for being proactive in responding to the medical well-being of women and children in the state, while calling on women to imbibe the culture of regular medical check-up.

In her own part, the governor’s wife, Eunice Ortom, expressed her sincere appreciation to Mrs Buhari. Thanking her for choosing Benue State for free medical programme.

She said that the entire women of Benue state are grateful to the kind gesture done to the state by the wife of the president.
