Atsi Kefas, a younger sister of Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State, succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained during bandits attack in Kente village, Wukari Local Government Area.
NewsBand gathered that the 44-year-old died at a private hospital in Abuja, where she had been receiving treatment after being transferred from the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Wukari.
Timothy Kataps, secretary to the state government of Taraba, confirmed her death on Tuesday.
“Unfortunately, it is true, may her soul rest in peace,” Kataps said.
Atsi reportedly sustained the gunshot injury after bandits attacked a convoy she was in.
A police officer reportedly shot her while trying to fend off the attackers.
Zagazola Makama, a security expert said troops evacuated both Jumai and Atsi from the scene with the use of an air ambulance.
