Anambra govt demolishes multiple Kidnappers’ hideouts in Nnewi

Kidnappers' hideout demolished by Anambra State govt

Anambra State Government has demolished more than four buildings used as hideouts by kidnappers at Umu-Umejiaku Nnewi, and Umuogbo Obiofia Nnewi-Ichi, all in Nnewi North Local Government Area.

The demolition exercise was done on Tuesday, January 4, 2025.

Mr. Nonso Nwosu, President General of Ndieze Nwankwo Nnewi, revealed that the demolished bungalows belonged to a notorious kidnapper, Mr. Kenechukwu Ifedigbo, who had long tormented the community.

While speaking on the operation, Special Adviser to Governor Soludo on Community Security, Mr. Ken Emeakayi, who led men of Operation Udo Ga-Achi in executing the demolition, noted that the action aligns with the Anambra State Homeland Security Laws.

He stressed that the rescue of kidnapped victims, as confirmed by community leaders, further justified the demolition.

In their separate remarks, the Majority Leader of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme, and the Mayor of Nnewi North Local Government Area, Mr. Echezona Anazodo, commended the state government for its swift response.

They also urged Anambra resident to give their full support in the ongoing fight against insecurity in the state.

Present during the operation were the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim; the Special Adviser on Community Security, Chief Ken Emeakayi; the House Committee Chairman on Security and Majority Leader, Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme; the Chairman of Nnewi North Local Government, Mr. Echezona Anazodo; and Hon. Augustine Ike.
