Adeleke sympathizes with Osun Anglican Diocese over fire incident

Osogbo, March 18, 2025 –After a fire partially destroyed a church in Osogbo on Monday, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke expressed his sympathy.

He reached out to Anglican Bishop Folusho O. Babatunji and the congregants, acknowledging their loss and offering support during this difficult time.

He immediately released a statement via the state’s official channel, describing the incident as a tragic community loss.

While mourning the damage, Governor Adeleke pledged support for reconstruction and urged stakeholders to adopt preventive measures against future disasters.

Expressing deep sorrow, Governor Adeleke condemned the fire’s destruction of the sacred site, stressing its emotional and material toll on the Church.

He added, “It pains me to witness this devastation, particularly as part of the Church remains ravaged and unusable.”

“My heartfelt sympathies go to the Church, the Bishop, and all affected by this tragedy,” he stated, conveying solidarity from Osun State.

Additionally, he praised emergency teams for their swift response. Their efforts contained the blaze and prevented fatalities, safeguarding both lives and property.

He highlighted their professionalism and dedication in containing what could have been an even more catastrophic situation.

Governor Adeleke used the occasion to call for increased public vigilance and adherence to safety measures to prevent fire outbreaks. He emphasized that fire incidents remain a significant challenge that requires collective efforts from both government institutions and citizens to mitigate.

“Fire outbreaks are a menace that demand proactive measures from all stakeholders.

Governor Adeleke urged citizens to prioritize fire safety, stay vigilant, and take preventive actions, emphasizing the need to avoid future tragedies.

Meanwhile, a fire in Osogbo destroyed a section of the church, causing extensive damage. Though no lives were lost, the incident left members stunned and grieving.

Reflecting his administration’s commitment, Adeleke expressed solidarity with affected communities, pledging immediate support for recovery efforts. He also vowed to strengthen emergency response systems statewide.
