Chijioke Edeoga rejoins PDP, vows to back Mbah’s gov’t

In a bold political move, former Labour Party gubernatorial candidate Chijioke Edeoga has officially returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Notably, Edeoga, a former PDP stalwart, announced his comeback on Monday, February 6, at the party’s secretariat in Enugu.

Earlier, speculation had mounted after closed-door talks with PDP leaders on January 31. Consequently, he arrived with supporters and was welcomed by State Chairman Martins Chukwunweike and other key figures.

Speaking passionately, Edeoga thanked Governor Peter Mbah for enabling his smooth return. Additionally, he praised the governor’s inclusive governance and urged unity to advance Enugu’s development.

“PDP remains my political home,” he declared. “Governor Mbah’s leadership fosters reconciliation, marking a shift from division to collaboration.”

Furthermore, Edeoga pledged unwavering support to strengthen the PDP’s dominance. “I recommit to this party’s progress,” he said. “Together, we will ensure victory in future elections.”

State PDP Chairman Martins Chukwunweike hailed the return as a strategic win. Moreover, he linked it to Governor Mbah’s unity agenda. “Reuniting our party is our mission,” he stated. “Edeoga’s return guarantees PDP’s success in 2027.”

Isi-Uzo LGA Chairman Obiora Obeagu applauded the move, crediting Mbah’s inclusive policies. Despite opposition strongholds, the governor has prioritized development in the region.

“Governance surpasses politics,” Obeagu emphasized. “From smart green schools to road projects, Mbah’s leadership is unmatched. Edeoga’s return proves this.”

Analysts predict Edeoga’s reintegration will solidify PDP’s stronghold in Enugu. With his supporters, the party now stands more united under Mbah’s administration.

As the PDP celebrates this reunion, stakeholders express confidence in its ability to deliver progress. Ultimately, Edeoga’s return signals renewed hope for Ndi Enugu’s development.
