A man has reportedly ended his marriage at a police station in Minna, Niger State, after his wife was arrested during a security raid on a hotel.

A security operative who doesn’t want to be quoted according to Daily Trust, revealed that the woman was among several persons taken into custody in an operation targeting hotels believed to be hideouts for members of the notorious sara-suka gang and drug dealers.

Her marital status only came to light after the arrested suspects were taken to the station and family members were contacted.

“In response to increasing youth violence and attacks on residents, the Deputy Governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba, ordered a crackdown on suspected gang members operating from local hotels,” the source explained.

“During the raid, multiple suspects, including women, were taken into custody. To our surprise, a man arrived at the station and declared one of the women to be his wife. He immediately pronounced a triple divorce right there.”

The officer added that authorities were yet to begin formal investigations when the man showed up and ended the marriage.
