Queen rides train

While Nigeria leaders cruise around in executive jets, the Queen of England yesterday displayed the common touch by catching a commuter train back to London after her Christmas break in Norfolk.

Escorted by the station manager, she boarded the 10.54am Great Northern train service from King’s Lynn station to Kings Cross on Monday, taking her first-class seat five minutes before departure.

The one hour 40-minute journey would have cost her £54.90.

“It’s an honour to have her use the train service,” Graeme Pratt, the station manager, told the Eastern Daily Press. “I asked her if she enjoyed her stay in Norfolk, to which she said she did.”
