(DDM) – The Nigeria Police Force has redeployed its spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner of Police Olumuyiwa Adejobi, to the Delta State Command.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that Adejobi will now serve as the Deputy Commissioner in charge of Operations in the oil-rich state.
The redeployment was confirmed by The Nation, which reported that Adejobi brings decades of policing and public relations expertise to the new role.
Adejobi, who recently rose from Assistant Commissioner of Police to the rank of Deputy Commissioner, was first appointed Acting Force Public Relations Officer in February 2022.
He was later confirmed in the position by then Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba.
During his tenure as Force PRO, Adejobi became a prominent public voice of the Nigerian Police Force, often addressing national security concerns and crisis communication.
He is widely regarded for his professional handling of sensitive issues, including nationwide protests and police-community relations.
Adejobi’s policing career spans over two decades, with extensive experience in operations, public relations, and conflict resolution.
Between 2008 and 2016, he served as the Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun State, where he established a reputation for proactive engagement.
He later moved to Zone 2 Headquarters covering Lagos and Ogun States, before serving at the Lagos State Command.
His academic background also supports his professional expertise.
Adejobi studied Archaeology and Geography at the university level and later earned a Master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Ibadan.
Beyond policing, he is a respected member of several professional bodies.
He belongs to the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), the International Public Relations Association (IPRA), and the International Association of Chiefs of Police in the United States.
His redeployment comes at a time of heightened security challenges in Delta State, a region often affected by oil-related disputes, militancy, and community clashes.
Observers believe that his wealth of experience in crisis communication and field operations will be vital in addressing rising security concerns in the state.
