(DDM) – Labour Party governorship candidate, Chief George Moghalu (Ohamadike Nnewi), has reaffirmed his commitment to peaceful and credible elections in Anambra State after signing the official Anambra State Peace Accord alongside other candidates and party representatives on Monday.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the peace accord, organized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and key stakeholders, was aimed at promoting non-violence, tolerance, and transparency ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.
Chief Moghalu, who shared details of the event on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, emphasized that politics should always be about service, not violence, and ideas, not intimidation.
He described the peace accord as a “collective pledge” by all contestants to respect democratic values and protect the integrity of the electoral process.
According to him, “Together, we can uphold the spirit of democracy and guarantee an election that truly reflects the will of Ndi Anambra.”
Moghalu called on the people of Anambra to approach the election season with calmness, fairness, and unity of purpose, stressing that the state deserves leaders who prioritize peace and progress.
He added, “Let us go into this election with peace in our hearts and unity in our purpose. Anambra ga-adị mma ọzọ!”, meaning “Anambra will be great again.”
Observers believe the peace accord is a crucial step toward averting political tension and electoral violence that have characterized previous elections in parts of the state.
Political analysts who spoke with DDM noted that Chief Moghalu’s consistent message of peace, inclusiveness, and service has continued to resonate strongly among voters, especially in local communities across Nnewi, Orumba, and Awka zones.
As campaigns enter the final stretch, the Labour Party candidate urged security agencies, electoral officials, and the electorate to uphold fairness and discipline, reminding all that democracy thrives only when peace prevails.
He concluded by saying that the will of the people must remain sacred and that true leadership begins with the courage to serve in peace and integrity.
